We’ve worked with Planit and Urban Splash for a number of years, so when founders Pete Swift (Planit) and Tom Bloxham (Urban Splash) approached us to capture their ambitious Cyan Lines vision in film, we jumped at the chance.
Cyan Lines is a bold plan to link and transform Manchester’s green and blue spaces, its squares, pocket parks, rivers, canals, and viaducts, into a connected network that brings people closer to nature and to each other. Spanning 100 miles, the network will connect linear parks, green corridors, and traffic-free routes, while creating new connections where they’re most needed across Manchester and Salford, linking into Greater Manchester’s wider boroughs.
The film needed to introduce this vision at the official launch event and then live on as a core piece of content across digital channels.
We set out to capture the story of Cyan Lines in a way that reflected both its scale and its human impact. Using drone footage, we showed Manchester from above, illustrating the vast potential of connected spaces, while also zooming in on the smaller details of nature pushing through the city.
We brought the human voice into the narrative by filming with Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, Pete Swift and Tom Bloxham. Their contributions anchored the film in leadership, ambition, and civic purpose, helping to ground the vision in the people driving it forward.
Premiered at the launch event, the film became the centrepiece for introducing Cyan Lines to key stakeholders and the public. It has since been used across digital communications, helping to share the vision widely and inspire excitement around the project.
By blending sweeping cityscapes with intimate details and the people involved, the film positioned Cyan Lines as both a grand, city-shaping idea and a deeply human one, making the case for why Manchester’s future should be greener, more connected, and more inclusive.
