Down a dirt track and through a gate with no visible signs, we are met by a friendly black and white collie and then shortly after, Brigitte Hagmann appears, one of Skye’s best-known producers, a superstar and the guru of salad leaves, which are the must-have in every restaurant. But outside of the Isle of Skye, Glendale Salads and Brigitte Hagmann are known by very few people.
Brigitte Hagmann has been growing a world-class selection of salad leaves, herbs, gourmet vegetables and edible flowers from a hillside garden in Glendale for over thirty-five years. She is originally from Germany but moved here with her husband for a different way of life. She loved coming to Scotland for holidays and they were actually looking for a place on the mainland when they discovered Glendale.
